Jenny Karazissis
Jenny is the perfect role model for our students. Hard work, integrity, dedication, and mega talent have taken her to the top of our sport; she’s considered one of the top ten hunter riders in the nation.
Her life with horses, from first pony to national champion, is one that every young rider dreams of living! Jenny’s goal was always to be a professional rider. She’ll tell you that she can’t remember wanting to do anything else. She took lessons from her babysitter, Shari Rose, then with Merle Rose, and then went directly from Junior rider to Professional, working for Shari. When she started dating Kost Karazissis in the early eighties, they decided if they were going to make it as a couple they’d better see if they could work together, and she moved to FWF. The rest is history!
Her advice to up and coming riders: “Be patient, pay attention, and enjoy the ride. It takes a lot of hard work to be the best you can be, but make sure you stop and appreciate the journey. It’s a very humbling sport that keeps you learning every day.”
In addition to training students and horses and showing, Jenny works hard to keep the Hunter ring in the public eye by serving on the National Hunter Jumper Association, USHJA Int'l Derby and Incentive Task force and the National Hunter Derby Task Force.
Some of the truly great horses that Jenny has had the privilege (and joy) of working with include Airwolfe, Two of Hearts, Notorious, Touchstone and Red Panda. Currently, she is working with Big Shot, the 2018 USEF Horse of The Year in 3’6” Green.
The most exciting moment of her career was winning the Professional Challenge at Capital Challenge on Touchstone; she considers her greatest honors to be receiving the CPHA Horsewoman of the Year and the USEF Zone 10 Equestrian of the Year awards.
