Training & Lessons

FWF staff works closely with clients as they each set their own individual goals – whether it’s being in the spotlight at a national finals, bringing home a ribbon from a local show, or just being the best rider possible. We teach six days a week, and clients are encouraged to ride every day they can. Our passion for the sport is contagious, and with perseverance, a healthy dose of fun and lots of hard work, FWF will help make those goals become reality.

Our riders have taken every major West Coast medal final, and been champions at Harrisburg, Capitol Challenge, Washington D.C, Lake Placid and Atlanta.  Far West Farms riders are consistently in the ribbons in the hunter, jumper, equitation, and pony rings at every horse show. Many former FWF students – including Ashlee Bond, Jamie and Katie Taylor, Marla Amormino, Stacey Ryan, Maja Lindemann, and Heather Lake  – have gone on to become professionals in the industry.

With three arenas and six trainers, you can start your riding career with us and continue all the way up to the top.

We are a full service facility. Before your lesson, our horses are professionally groomed and tacked by our staff, both for your convenience and to give our grooms time to assess the horse and correctly position the saddle, bridle, wraps etc. After your ride, you can hand the horse over to one of our grooms and they will handle un-tacking, grooming, and bathing. Riders are more than welcome to arrive early or stay later to do this themselves, if they’d like the extra horse-time - just let our office staff know, and we’ll make sure you have a hoof to pick!

Cancellation Policy: We require 24 hour notice for any lesson cancellation. Canceling within 24 hours of your lesson will result in a full charge of the lesson amount and is non-refundable. No Show/No Call will result in a full charge of the lesson amount as well and is also non-refundable. Cancellations due to unforeseeable circumstances on the barn’s part, such as weather, will not result in a charge.

Rider Requirements: All riders must fill out a Rider Information & Agreements Form (RIA Form) before their first lesson; for minors under 18 years of age, a parent must sign. All riders must wear appropriate riding gear, no exceptions. Height/weight restrictions: for school horse lessons, rider’s weight may not exceed 180 lbs.
